That is, if I make a deposit directly into my investment account, categorizing the deposit as income, or perhaps categorize a withdraw as an expense, etc. such transactions are no longer captured within the standard Itemized Categories report included in Quicken.

Initially, I figured it was just filters, etc. However this is not the case. So I checked the issue on another quicken file I maintain - same issue. So I then created a new quicken file, adding an investment account to it. Entered some dummy transactions that I categorized. No luck. Same issue.

So I called Quicken support, and they informed me, right or wrong, that with the recent release, they fixed a long time issue with the investment account cash account and I will no longer be able to review transactions that are categorized within my investment accounts via the Itemized Categories report. Honestly, this is one of the best features of Quicken. One can track, manage, maintain, and report on transaction account accounts, regardless of whether it is a cash account, checking, investment account, etc. Without this, reporting capabilities, in my view, Quicken takes a step back.

Please tell me there is a plan to fix this issue! From a programming (and accounting perspective) one would think it would be rather simply to fix this so one has the ability to view transactions categorized within investment account in the Itemized Categories again! problem pending 32 14 4 comment http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453/replies/19489872 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453 19489872 Tom Young responded to "Quicken Premier 2018 Itemized Categories report for Investment Accounts. Post R8.8" 2018-05-16T15:35:32Z 2018-05-16T15:35:32Z TMac http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/8508663 https://www.gravatar.com/avatar/d634c967f9a6a12e0e13fffa6aabfbf2?d=identicon&s=55&r=PG tommcl1 I'm experiencing similar issues with the Itemized Categories Report after upgrading to Premier 2018 (r8.8) from Premier 2015 - the Itemized Categories report excludes investment transactions with expense categories from investment accounts. It included them in the Premier 2015 version of the report. The new r8.8 report still seems to include investment txns with income categories. Some brief testing revealed the following reporting results in 2018 Premier r8.8

The following reports all seem to continue to include all transactions/categories from investment accounts, assuming the report is customized to include investment accounts:
 > Banking - Cash Flow
 > Banking - Transaction
 > Spending - Income/Expense by Category

However, the following reports appear to exclude some or all categorized transactions from investment accounts in 2018 Premier r8.8:

 > Itemized Categories - includes txns from income categories in investment accts, but excludes txns from expense categories in investment accts. I did confirm that report settings included investment accounts and that the data did contain txns with expense categories.

 > Spending by Category - excludes all transactions from investment accounts, even if you select an investment account for inclusion and select all categories. This report includes both income & expense categories for banking accts, assuming you select all categories for inclusion (default report only selects expense categories)

 > Also noted that the "circle graphs" on the home tab for total spending, and on the spending tab also exclude investment acct expense transactions even if you select investment accts for inclusion. Investment acct expenses were previously able to be included in these graphs in 2015 Premier.

A previous post seemed to say that only transactions entered in r8.8 were excluded, and transactions entered in historical versions were included. In my testing, investment transactions were excluded regardless of version/entry date. I have a large sample size of data going back 25+ years.

I'd reinforce that the Itemized Category report and the summary "circle graphs" are frequently used, integral features for me and I'd like to see them restored to their full reporting scope (including all investment txns) ASAP. There are workarounds to use other reports as mentioned above, but the workarounds are awkward, lack the collapsible feature of the itemized categories report, and the summary graphs are now misleading as they aren't able to fully include all expenses.

Thanks in advance for getting on this quickly!
0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453/replies/19526209 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453/replies/19492232 19526209 TMac responded to "Quicken Premier 2018 Itemized Categories report for Investment Accounts. The report does include txns with income categories from investment accts. My dataset is quite large and has transactions entered over many historical versions - all were excluded. 0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453/replies/19526481 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453/replies/19526198 19526481 Dixon responded to "Quicken Premier 2018 Itemized Categories report for Investment Accounts. In further testing, the only income categories from investment accounts that appear on the itemized categories report are just the "standard" investment categories (e.g. _DivInc). Investment txns that use custom created/non-standard income categories DO NOT appear on the itemized categories report. 0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453/replies/19530716 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7727453 19530716 Dixon responded to "Quicken Premier 2018 Itemized Categories report for Investment Accounts.
