I ask because I have no problems with crashes, but I do not use mobile. 0 19509639 Arctic Hare responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-05-08T14:18:56Z 2018-05-08T14:18:56Z Arctic Hare kevin_berry_5064561 @Art: I empathize with the problems you are experiencing. I've had that issue in the past and the crashes have resumed for me recently.

I do highly recommend that, as a diagnostic test, you create a new Quicken file and try working in the new file for a while. This test will determine whether the problem is specific to your data file or whether the problem is with the program itself. If Quicken doesn't crash with the new data file then there are some things that you could try to cleanse the corruption out of your data file. If Quicken does crash with the data file then we would approach the issue differently.

Again, I highly recommend you try a new file as a diagnostic test. Just set up some of your accounts and download transactions and work in that environment for a few days. If Q is crashing as often as you indicate then you shouldn't have to spend much time on the test.

You are much more likely to get assistance if you invest in the diagnostic testing. 1 19509641 Arctic Hare responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-05-08T14:20:27Z 2018-05-08T14:20:27Z Arctic Hare kevin_berry_5064561 @Art: Q2018 and Q2017 use exactly the same data file format. There is no issue with downgrading from Q2018 to Q2017. That being said, I would continue to work towards a resolution for Q2018. 0 19517219 Art responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-05-11T16:37:24Z 2018-05-11T16:37:24Z Art art_dclmohvsge1wg I do not use mobile 0 19519580 Art responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-05-13T12:14:07Z 2018-05-13T12:14:07Z Art art_dclmohvsge1wg So far so good but I've spent most of my time setting up all of my accounts and such. I'll be in the full use of the new file today.

I still find creating a new file unacceptable. All of my categorizations are gone. All of my memos gone. I know I can still open the old file but that's not the point. I stopped creating a Year-End Copy and truncating transactions a long time ago because I didn't want to work with multiple files.

Cheers. 0 19519582 Arctic Hare responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-05-13T12:19:17Z 2018-05-13T12:19:17Z Arctic Hare kevin_berry_5064561 Remember, the new file is a diagnostic test for now. You don't necessarily have to set up all aspects of your old file. We just want to see whether Q crashes when working in the new file. 0 19579977 Art responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-06-13T11:30:25Z 2018-06-13T11:30:25Z Art art_dclmohvsge1wg Back to report the brand new file fixed the crashing issues. I am still extremely unhappy that I need to "leave behind" my years of customizations and extra data. 0 19580076 markus1957 responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-06-13T12:45:51Z 2018-06-13T12:45:51Z markus1957 markus1957 Reviewing the original post and this one; it does not appear the damaged data file Knowledge Base article was listed as a reference.

Using the super-validate routine by holding Ctrl+Shift should also be considered. 0 19583748 Arctic Hare responded to "Quicken 2018 Premier Frequent Crashes" 2018-06-15T02:31:42Z 2018-06-15T02:31:42Z Arctic Hare kevin_berry_5064561 @Art: in addition to trying a File Validate and a File SuperValidate, you should also try File-->File_Operations-->File Copy, open the newly copied file and then File_Validate the newly copied and opened. There is a good chance that sequence will cleanse the corruption. If that sequence finds problems in the Validate than iteratively perform the copy and the validate until the file validates cleanly. If all of that fails, you may be able to export some/all of your old data and import into the new file. This can get tricky and cause collateral damage though, so definitely try the copy-validate cycle first. 0
