There is the server you are downloading from, congestion on your beam at the time and, every hop your signal takes along the route to the server you're downloading from.<br /><br />It isn't unusual for me to see 30+ Mbps on a speed test and, get a download that runs in the 1-2 Mbps range. When you unplug the power, try leaving it unplugged for 2 full min. It just saves you from having to get to your modem's power supply.&nbsp;<br /><br />One other point I want to make in relation to rebooting. It's best to unplug the power cord from the "brick" when you reboot. I've had svc calls before where the person had no power at the modem,, all I had to do was unplug the brick, plug it back in and close out the work order. About 3 yrs ago I mentioned that one of the redesigns they needed to do was a power plug that was unique.....we had too many instances where the customer would confuse the modem and router power cords. The 2.1mm I.D. plug is the most common one out there and most customers figure "if it fits, it must be the right one". A lot of people had a computer desk and wanted the modem put on one of the shelves above the monitor....the cord was just long enough that this position caused the brick to be a few inches off the floor and this weight would sooner or later cause it to pull the modem crashing to the floor.&nbsp;<br /><br />I usually took care of this by using a cable screw clip to position and hold the power cord up high enough that there was no pressure on the cord that went from the brick to the modem.&nbsp;<br /><br />Andy 2
