If I try to create the "bought" transaction by hand I get the same message. Using Windows, Quicken 2018 R10.11; I've searched and seen references to the same error but not when exercising a stock option. I've tried Validate, Super Validate, without success. problem investing investing, bank_accounts_downloading_and_categorizing, windows active 5 5 1 comment http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062/replies/19690757 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062 19690757 mshiggins responded to "Exercising stock option gives "the resulting value is too big"" 2018-08-11T18:55:24Z 2018-08-11T18:55:24Z mshiggins http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/2779851 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/10875349/original_medium.PNG mshiggins What currency are you using? 0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062/replies/19692658 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062 19692658 Jeff Baker responded to "Exercising stock option gives "the resulting value is too big"" 2018-08-13T03:42:34Z 2018-08-13T03:42:34Z Jeff Baker http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/8775388 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/10953055/14485094_10153981939786448_4679442630204906293_n_medium.jpg jeff_baker_klnz6mbaq2dqv USD 0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062/replies/19693392 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062 19693392 NotACPA - QW HBRP 2018 responded to "Exercising stock option gives "the resulting value is too big"" 2018-08-13T16:37:37Z 2018-08-13T16:37:37Z NotACPA - QW HBRP 2018 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/8486064 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/10875899/original_medium.png notacpa_8wchoth4cq4gm What are the values that you're inputting into the Wizard?
0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062/replies/19694297 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062 19694297 Jeff Baker responded to "Exercising stock option gives "the resulting value is too big"" 2018-08-14T02:01:11Z 2018-08-14T02:01:11Z Jeff Baker http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/8775388 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/10953055/14485094_10153981939786448_4679442630204906293_n_medium.jpg jeff_baker_klnz6mbaq2dqv I click the "Enter Transactions" button, choose "Exercise Employee Stock Options" from the upper left drop down, Number of shares (500), change the "Transaction date" to the date of exercise, leave the "Account" drop down to the correct value, click the "Launch Wizard" button. Enter the date again, click Next, select the grant, click Next, choose "Non-qualified stock option", select "Same-day Sale" radtio button, click Next, enter the number of shares sold, sale price per share, and commission value.

I'm then asked to choose the brokerage account and account to receive the proceeds. I've tried specifying a different account for the latter (I was sent a change) in which case Quicken wants to add 4 transactions. Selecting the same account means Quicken wants to add three transactions.

In either case, however, I get a pop up "The resulting value is too big. Please enter it as more than one transaction." And in both cases, there is no "Bought" transaction (a year ago, with an older version of Quicken, this worked. Entering the "Bought" transaction gives the same error pop up but does enter the transaction, so I'm able to work around the problem, but of course this should be fixed. 0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062/replies/19695506 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7775062 19695506 UKR responded to "Exercising stock option gives "the resulting value is too big"" 2018-08-14T16:36:59Z 2018-08-14T16:36:59Z UKR http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/8342865 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/11231531/Gartenzwerg2_medium.bmp ukr_8027544
Let's make sure your Quicken software is installed and updated properly.
Locate the 2018 R 10.11 Mondo patch file at http://www.quicknperlwiz.com/quickenpatches.html
Download it and save it to disk.
Open the Downloads folder.
