Just finished setup this weekend and noticed the different cymbal zones were not triggering. After playing with the ride settings I got some improvement. I noticed my OS was v1.2 so ran the 1.4 update hoping to improve things. The update installed without issue.

On reboot the new drum layout displayed for maybe 2 seconds thrn the screen turned off. Second restart did the same. I attempted a factory reset. Restarted and still the screen shuts down after 2 seconds.

Also the update did not seem to affect poor cymbal triggering.

Any ideas? problem complete 11 4 1 comment 19693811 Stephen Mumford responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-08-13T20:39:19Z 2018-08-13T20:39:19Z Stephen Mumford stephen_mumford_4xub78cm4lrke Same frustration level here, this is my second kit, as the first one I bought (used) had the screen demolished in shipping by the retailer. The seller was gracious enough to exchange for brand new kit. Same problem, after applying V1.4 update
my screen goes blank 1 second after the kit screen pops up. everything triggers fine, as long as I want to play the default kit forever! Can't control anything. the metronome turns on/off, but without the screen I can't control anything. submitted support request last week Friday, nothing back yet! 0 very frustrated 19697843 Noel responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-08-15T16:46:03Z 2018-08-15T16:46:03Z Noel noel_19i8tmnnjlypi It's weird because the screen stays on during the 5-second factory reset window, so I really do not think the screen itself is faulty. Just for whatever reason, it seems as though something is triggering it to shut off.

I contacted my sales vendor. They said they will contact Alesis to issue a replacement, but I would very much like to know if this is a bug with v1.4.

I tried factory resets but it stays at v1.4. I would assume it would revert, but I guess not. If I could find an archived download of v1.3 I could test, but looks like all references point to v1.4 now.

grrr. 0 19698288 Bill R. responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-08-15T19:18:42Z 2018-08-15T19:18:42Z Bill R. bill_r_7894130 Hi Noel,

Sorry you're having issues with your Strike Pro Kit. I can confirm that this isn't a bug with the latest firmware update. Try moving the contrast knob on the rear of the module all the way to the left. This should allow for you to be able to see the display. 1 19698301 Noel responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-08-15T19:25:04Z 2018-08-15T19:25:04Z Noel noel_19i8tmnnjlypi Strange. Honestly had not considered that knob in that the screen went from normal to blank after the startup screen changed.

I will take a look tonight once I'm back home.

Thank you for the reply. 0 19698947 Noel responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-08-16T01:20:08Z 2018-08-16T01:20:08Z Noel noel_19i8tmnnjlypi Odd. Thanks. Manually adjusting the brightness brings the screen back. Why would it just go out on startup?

New issues:
when I adjust the brightness, I can hear interference through my headphones now. Unless I keep it very dim, there is s constant buzz.

In v1.2 I could see the GUI screen illuminate which trigger was being activated (I.e., head, rim, bow, edge, or bell). Now in v1.4, regardless of which trigger hits, the display only shows the rim or edge triggers hitting. Is this a setting? Or did v1.4 remove the multitrigger display for hits? 0 19755774 Noel responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-09-13T21:59:52Z 2018-09-13T21:59:52Z Noel noel_19i8tmnnjlypi Just to follow-up on my OP, apparently the v1.4 update auto dims around 25% after startup. I prefer my screen dim as I play in low light mostly. Apparently, I made my default brightness around the 25% mark, so when the module starts up and auto-dims, it took it pretty much to 0. I've rolled my dimmer knob up slightly to compensate and it's been fine ever since.

Additionally, the interference has stopped and only occurred the one time after the initial v1.4 update. I've not been able to reproduce the issue so I'm good with that.

Re: My follow-up question on trigger graphic highlights
After speaking with TechSup from Alesis via phone (btw, they emailed several times, called, and returned a call within days of my initial issue, plus the response on this forum so GREAT support response!), the update did change the trigger highlight graphics. The interface no longer highlights edge/rim and bow/head separately. Instead, if you hit the drum you only get one graphic highlight regardless of where you hit it. I prefer the v1.2 trigger highlights, but I only really needed it for confirmation of trigger hits. Now that I know what to listen for, I can make due. I just thought it was a really nice detail.

Now that I've had the kit for around the 1-month mark, I have to say that I absolutely love this thing. I've put in 1-2 hours daily, and longer on weekends behind this kit. And I'm not even a drummer. This thing is fun to play and seriously helps with the lack of experience and confidence by being so quiet for the neighbors. I've started building and customizing my own kit to mimic a QotSA track and I'm having a blast.

GREAT product. 0 19755780 Noel responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-09-13T22:03:19Z 2018-09-13T22:03:19Z Noel noel_19i8tmnnjlypi Not sure if you're still around, or if you've given up on the Strike but I wanted to let you know that my issue was that the screen auto-dims by like 25% after startup. I kept my screen at around that brightness by default, so after the dim it effectively went to 0. Adjusting the brightness knob up a bit totally fixed my very weird issue.

Hoping you got yours working and set, as I'm really enjoying this kit now that I've figured it out. If not, then all the best finding one you will enjoy. Thanks for posting here. It helped knowing I was not losing my mind lol. 0 19756647 Bill R. responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-09-14T12:17:05Z 2018-09-14T12:17:05Z Bill R. bill_r_7894130 Awesome Noel, glad to hear it! :) 1 19758167 Shuxpower responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-09-15T08:59:33Z 2018-09-15T08:59:33Z Shuxpower shuxpower Hi Noel, I just read what you found out, I'm glad I did because if and probably when I do the v1.4 update and I have the same experience I'll know what to do now. Thanks. I also only drum for fun and exercise and this kit is awesome now it's tuned in to my liking. 1 19758367 Noel responded to "Strike module screen turns off on startup" 2018-09-15T12:24:30Z 2018-09-15T12:24:30Z Noel noel_19i8tmnnjlypi Hey! Glad someone read my post lol. Honestly the whole issue was just me forgetting there is a dimmer knob. It did kinda freak me out for a few days though.

I know what you mean about this kit. I haven't played in probably 20 years but since getting this thing I literally can't stop thinking about It. I just HAVE to beat on it.

Off topic: I found this video last night on compression that I didn't know about. Maybe you'll find it usefull too for boosting volume.

Also check out the user Siren2173 there. He's got some great mod videos for this kit. I won't screw up my warranty doing what hes done but it's neat to watch. Also he shows a way to add up to 4 more crash/fx cymbals if you ever reach a point to expand.

I'm with you. I really enjoy this thing now that I have a clue on what's what. Keep it up. And thanks for the comment :) 0
