We have had difficulties as some of our clients may have a GP, two specialists, a rehab provider and another allied health provider, all of whom we want to keep in the loop when sending correspondence. We are now paperless and the current system does make it difficult to remember all relevant stakeholders 0 19701552 Timothy responded to "mutiple doctors" 2018-08-17T02:19:16Z 2018-08-17T02:19:16Z Timothy tim_7104970 Hi all. We understand that there are often multiple health professionals and others (e.g. case managers) involved in the care of patients. The referring doctor is intended to be used for billing purposes and almost exclusively there is one practitioner who is the referring doctor for payment of bills.

The area we recommend using to manage multiple contacts related to a patient’s case is the ‘Contacts’ functionality in Front Desk, which allows you to record notes, add attachments, generate standard letters using letter tags and email these contacts.

To create a new Contact Type go to System > Contacts > Contact Types

Select Add and enter a name for this type of contact. This step can be repeated as many times as required.

With the Contact Type set up, the next step is to open the patient file and go to Contacts > Add.

Select New and then fill in the contact details and type as appropriate. In this case, we’ve selected the type Specialist. Select OK to add the contact.

After adding a contact, you’ll be asked to select the Contact Relationship, which is the key to using the contact’s details in your communication templates.

Select from existing Relationships or create a new one selecting the New button.

Once added to the patient’s file, note the contact’s Merge Type, which can be used as a letter tag in standard letters, SMS and email templates.

Further, when emailing from the patient file, associated Contacts, GPs and third-party billing email addresses will be available to select in the ‘To’ drop-down menu.

1 19741795 Tim Foran responded to "mutiple doctors" 2018-09-06T22:37:16Z 2018-09-06T22:37:16Z Tim Foran tim_foran_7505583 Just wondering how this function works with programs like Medical Objects that use Word tags instead of the native Frontdesk tags? 0 19741841 Steven responded to "mutiple doctors" 2018-09-06T22:53:26Z 2018-09-06T22:53:26Z Steven steven_7107276 Hi Tim

The contact letter tags are also supported in Microsoft Word. Currently, the contacts do not have a provider number field which may be required if you are using Microsoft Word for secure messaging. Perhaps if you could give it a go and let us know and we may be able to make some enhancements in the future.
0
