It rarely gets anything enacted. Although it does let TechSmith be aware, that you think it’s a good idea.

Workarounds are better than nothing. But when there consistently cited as a way to go. There dangerous as well. How can that be?

Take Audacity for instance. Audacity gets ringing endorsements and praise throughout the Camtasia forum. It’s cited as a free software program and the go to method for editing audio with Camtasia. Why? Because editing audio in Camtasia is so problematic.

I believe TechSmith uses Audacity as a crutch.

Heck, we can’t even get a basic audio meter added to Camtasia. Let alone improvements to the features it already has. TechSmith has become complacent with everyone turning to Audacity. For most of their audio needs. They haven’t improved the audio tools much in years. At least not to any degree that I have noticed. What I notice is all the people complaining about them in the forum. I switched to Adobe Audition long ago.

So you see, when I see people posting the same workarounds, possibly updated, maybe not, I don’t know, I don’t have time to watch all the videos or study all the workarounds closely. But I get the gist of what they’re about.

But overall, these are the same workarounds. Spanning post after post, month after month, year after year.

I see this as problematic in the long run.

Eventually building towards TechSmith complacency on the subject. And another feature that could be easily tucked/tossed permanently under the rug.

Why?

Well, there’s a perfectly good workaround/workarounds for it available. Complete with video/videos in the Camtasia forum. Workarounds that are endorsed by many long standing members of the forum.

The infamous snowball effect that doomed the audio tools.

Regards, Joe
0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7816242/replies/19851722 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7816242/replies/19851404 19851722 kayakman responded to "Text Outline" 2018-11-11T01:28:57Z 2018-11-11T01:28:57Z kayakman http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/2014070 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/10917945/BobRedKayakTrimmedSmallAreaBlue_medium.png bob_jones_1733100 as long as an application lacks some function that is needed, at least by some, there will be a need for workarounds that address that need

if an application goes years without adding in a function, then workarounds that address that need will continue to be relevant

just because a few request a function, that is not necessarily a valid reason to add it into the product

I don't see that as complacency on the part of the manufacturer; it's just a sound business practice

just my 2 cents worth

kayakman

0 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7816242/replies/19851749 http://m.getsatisfaction.com/topics/7816242/replies/19851404 19851749 Joe Morgan responded to "Text Outline" 2018-11-11T02:41:28Z 2018-11-11T02:41:28Z Joe Morgan http://m.getsatisfaction.com/people/6438807 https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/public/uploaded_images/10640818/600x600flash-bulb_medium.gif joe_morgan_6134305 If you don't see complacency on TechSmiths part.

What's your explanation for years of problematic audio tools that never get fixed.
